Sorry to say but the grand Brighton on its website announces to be a five star hotel but in reality it’s three star - services wise , facilities wise, dining options inside the hotel wise and most importantly staff wise . The biggest reason why the grand Brighton lost its value in my opinion was the staff ; specifically the staff in the bar. They seem not to be happy working there as they come with an attitude and no idea of basics of hospitality. We found them abrupt and not pleasant personalities. One lady bar waitress on 1st December 2024 ( Sunday evening ) even said to me that the chef is generally angry when all I asked her a simple toasted club sandwich with egg in it ( club sandwich was in the menu by the way ) Even if it’s not in the menu I would expect a ‘ 5 star !!!’ Hotel to get me a boiled egg in a sandwich when they have seems like a high end restaurant operating there too . This is the first time I have heard something in my life that a hotel can’t do boiled egg in a club sandwich !!!!! When asked the waitress at the bar said to me that the chef is generally angry Before we checked in - a week in advance we sent a email to the hotel requesting for some specific food ( nothing special - just mixed fried rice and wedge potatoes ) to be cooked on evenings for our dinners . I never heard from them and when I asked about the email I was told that they never recieved it . The hotel has torn carpets with marks on them and patched with tapes on stairs , etc etc

Wonderful one night stay!
Booked a 1 night stay as a treat for my husband's special birthday. We weren't disappointed. Warm welcome from reception. We arrived earlier than the check-in time and were given our keys straight away as our room was ready. Free upgrade to a suite with sea view. Free bubbly placed in our room with chocolates. Fabulous breakfast. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Some reviews criticised the communal areas stating they needed refurbishment, but it wasn't that bad. I am surprised it holds a 5 star status though. More a 4 star. The new refurb rooms look nice and fresh, but I didnt like the colour scheme - quite bland for the period of the property. Some nice rich coloured soft furnishing would make the rooms look more oppulent. But that's personal state I guess.

Excellent Stay at The Grand
A perfect stay - the room had recently been refurbished and was amazing. The staff were polite and efficient and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We will definitely go back there next time we stay in Brighton.

Outstanding seaside grand hotel
Absolutely the best hotel I have stayed in England! Check in fab, hotels.com gave us a b upgrade to a sea view which was amazing because it was my husbands 50th then the hotel gave us a drink at the bar on them for is birthday, the breakfast outstanding! Show cooking omelettes fresh salmon smoothies etc amazing, staff lovely place so clean and decor beautiful we loved every minute it just went too fast everyone described it as a smaller version of the ritz
