Loved finding this little gem in Canberra. We travelled to Canberra a bit but didn’t know about the Diplomat. How good is it! It’s a hidden gem. When it was built, it was designed with style, it’s a little bit dated but it’s clean and really funky.. It’s looked after and it’s classy. It’s It’s really good and the price was excellent - not overpriced like a lot of places in Canberra are these days. We usually stay in the Dorma group of hotels in Capital hill area, but they’ve since become over priced for what you get; the Diplomat will probably become many people’s favourite place too.

Room size was reasonable, bed was comfortable. Room was quiet despite being on ground floor. Staff were helpful & pleasant. Staff in the dining area were attentive & friendly. Only one downside, hot water in the shower took a long time to come on, not good on a cool morning or evening.

Excellent accommodation, let down by internet
There was little to fault the Ramada for. Everything was great, except for WiFi and available channels on the TV. There was only ever 1 to 2 bars maximum on wifi. The internet is central to daily life, especially in business. Channels were restricted to free to air and prime. But Prime kept freezing due to the poor internet connectivity. I think pay TV needs to come as standard.
