The decor of the hotel, and the Christmas decorations were absolutely wonderful! Sitting in the crowded lobby enjoying an appetizer and drink was a great way to start the holiday season !

The property itself is beautiful and historical, but unfortunately, our experience fell short. Upon check-in, our room had not been vacuumed and contained clothing from previous guests. My daughter’s room was even worse — the bed was made, but the room was unclean, with full garbage bins, a leaking toilet, and a dirty bathroom. Despite bringing these issues to the front desk, only the bathroom was partially cleaned, and the toilet continued leaking, with garbage still unemptied. For the price we paid, we expected far better attention to cleanliness and maintenance. Very disappointing.

We got to the property early, around 2:15pm to check in to our suite. We were told, a few minutes and our room would be ready and gave our personal phone number. It was recommended to get a drink while we wait, and the service to get a drink was ridiculous, let alone pricey ($30 for a beer and cranberry vodka). We heard nothing from the front desk about our room before 3pm. When my husband went up to the counter to get the room keys, waited another 15mins in line until he was helped and was told the room was still unavailable then told to step aside for others to be helped. We did not get our room key until after 3:30pm. The text was received at 3:35pm saying the room was available. We found a used travel size bottle of soap in the shower, a stain on a bathroom floor mat, the water temp took several minutes to get to warm, the tile floor grout was disgusting, no bottle openers at the room bar, etc. Forcing people to pay for a resort fee of $25 is also unacceptable, regardless if there are "perks" (at the time, this was not known or offered while we waited for the room to be ready. Next morning, the restaurant said there was a 45min wait for breakfast and there were several empty tables. The hotel standards received were poor. Recommendations to staying here is not happening. We would like to share pjctures as well!

The check-in was terrible. I arrived at the 3pm check-in time. Waited in a long line for 25 minutes as 1 person at front desk checked everyone in. Then they tell me my room is not ready, they will put a rush on it & they will text me when available. We got tired of waiting around trying to entertain our toddler so we went to dinner. 2 hours later they text it’s ready. We come back after dinner at 7pm to get our room keys, go to the room & find someone is already in the room. Go back to front desk & have to wait for another 20 minutes while they transfer us to another room. All of this is going on while I have a crying toddler that’s tired because I can’t get access to a room until 7:30pm. I tried calling Hilton and the hotel to see if we could get any compensation for these issues. They all said I need to talk to the front desk. The front desk comp’d us free breakfast. Which means nothing since we already have plans for breakfast at a restaurant in the morning. Hands down, worst check-in ever.

What can you say about a 100 year-old vintage property. It was well maintained and SO beautiful. In the heart of downtown and close to everything. The best part was the Bertha Brownies.

Classic Hotel / Great price / Busy at Christmas
The hotel is amazing. We were in town for a family reunion at Christmas time, so the place was packed. The rooms and hotel are fine and the price was a great deal. The service in the main atrium was the only frustrating thing with our visit. No place to sit and the service was very slow/under staffed. The location is great and I think this is a fun hotel...just was super busy during the time we went.

The Perfect Hotel that COULD be
This hotel is gorgeous, it cannot be more centrally located if you just lifted it and put it 2 feet away, it has history, it has the best lobby bar the eyes have seen, but dang if it doesn't need updates. The wallpaper in the room, the bathrooms, the furniture, everything needs to be brought to the 21st century without losing it's Bertha Palmer charm. Get at me if you need ideas
